THREADS OF CONNECTION

A SPECIAL EXHIBITION AT THE SHRINE

An exhibition will be held at The Shrine of Remembrance Melbourne in 2010,
as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations.

It will show articles of textiles and embroidery worked in connection with any armed conflict in which Australia has been involved.

Items may have been worked to alleviate boredom, as patriotic home crafts, as a war necessity (such as socks or uniform), as part of rehabilitation, or as a keepsake or love token.

We are looking for items for this exhibition and the story related to each item.
The story is the main criteria.
Quality of stitch in the item is not of consequence.

Armed conflicts include:
The Boer War.
World Wars 1 and 2.
The wars in Burma, Korea, and Vietnam.
Current conflicts in Afghanistan, and the Middle East.

If you have an item that you believe would be of interest, we would love to hear from you.

Please send a photograph and a summary of the story relating to it, the serviceman’s name and following details if known – DOB, service number and unit, to:

“Threads of Connection”, Embroidery House, 170 Wattletree Rd., Malvern, Victoria, Australia 3144.
